Castilla y León is a land of wine. In the autonomous community, there are up to 9 denominations of origin distributed throughout the territory. We are in one of them, the Tierra del Vino de Zamora Designation of Origin. But we are also lucky enough to be very close to two others, the D.O. Toro and the D.O. Arribes del Duero, which makes our area an ideal starting point for wine tourism and visits to wineries in the different Designations of Origin.

If you are looking for an ideal place to enjoy wine tourism in Zamora and to be the perfect starting point for all your excursions to the most important wineries and Designations of Origin in Castilla y León, we are the perfect rural hotel in Zamora for you

WINE TOURISM IN ZAMORA VERY CLOSE TO OUR INN

Tierra del Vino of Zamora Designation of Origin

Located in the southeast of the province of Zamora, where our hotel is located, this appellation extends on both sides of the Duero river, in the middle of the Silver Route. Most of the territory belongs to the province of Zamora, although the province of Salamanca is also home to some municipalities that are included in this designation of origin.

The designation of origin was obtained in 2007 and is committed to a small production, but with high quality wines. The extreme climate, dry, with very cold winters and hot summers, contribute to the fact that this area is optimal for the cultivation of vineyards.

At Posada del Buen Camino, we are members of the Zamora Wine Route, so here we can inform you about everything you can do in the area: visit wineries, cheese dairies, recommend restaurants, charming villages, hiking trails….

As for wineries, one of the most famous and the one we recommend is Bodegas Viña Ver, which organises wine tourism visits to explain its production processes and to taste its exquisite wines.

WINE TOURISM IN A VERY SPECIAL TOWN, TORO

Toro Designation of Origin

Just 30 minutes from the hotel is one of the most charming villages in Zamora and Castilla y León, Toro, capital of the Toro Denomination of Origin. In this appellation, also crossed by the Duero river and which includes towns in the southeast of Zamora and the southwest of Valladolid, wines are made with a native grape called Tinta de Toro, which provides the characteristic strength of the wines of the D.O. Toro.

The medieval and monumental town of Toro is a perfect visit to combine with wine tourism and gastronomy. There are several wineries that can be visited. One of them is Bodegas Monte La Reina, where you can learn first-hand about its vineyards, its production processes and, of course, taste its excellent wines.

WINE TOURISM IN A UNIQUE NATURAL PLACE, BETWEEN ZAMORA AND SALAMANCA

Arribes del Duero Designation of Origin

In a natural setting of incredible beauty, between the provinces of Zamora and Salamanca, about 40 minutes from our hotel, lies the Arribes del Duero Denomination of Origin. With a long winemaking tradition, the characteristics of the terrain, very rugged and wedged between the Duero River and some of its tributaries, the vineyards are located at different altitudes, from 120 metres above sea level in the lower reaches, to 810 metres above sea level in towns as Fermoselle. The climatic conditions are also diverse, with parts of the vineyard in conditions similar to those of our area or Toro, dry and with extreme temperatures, and others with milder and more humid temperatures due to their proximity to the ocean.

The type of grape used in this D.O. is mainly the Juan García grape, although there are also others such as Rufete, Tempranillo, Garnacha or Mencía. They are aromatic wines with a fruity flavour, which differentiates them from other wines in the area. Among the wineries that can be visited, we highlight the winery El Hato y el Garabato, located near the beautiful village of Fermoselle in Zamora, so you can perfectly combine a visit to the village, from which you can also take the famous cruise through the Arribes del Duero, with wine tourism.
